# Assetli — Full reference

## What Assetli is

Assetli is a personal finance and household application. It covers the full balance sheet of
a household:

- **Liquid assets** — bank accounts, cash, savings
- **Investments** — broker accounts, stocks and ETFs, cryptocurrencies, other investments (P2P lending, crowdfunding, commodities, pension and savings products)
- **Real assets** — real estate, vehicles, valuables (electronics, jewellery, art, furniture and other items)
- **Liabilities** — mortgages and loans
- **Recurring** — subscriptions, utilities, household energy
- **Planning** — budgets, goals, savings envelopes, calculators, FIRE

On top of that data it runs an AI assistant inside the app and through a remote MCP server.

## What Assetli is not

- **Not a bank aggregator.** Assetli never connects to your bank and never stores bank login credentials. Data comes in through statement files, manual entry, email import, or an optional sync from the Wallet by BudgetBakers app with a token you paste.
- **Not a tax calculator.** For investments Assetli tracks the holding-period test of your market and shows the thresholds with a link to the official source. Outside the Czech market it does not compute tax amounts, rates or contributions. Where a market's rule is not verified, the app shows the gap instead of borrowing another country's rule.
- **Not an advisor.** The AI explains and summarises your own data. It does not recommend specific financial products.
- **Not a regulated financial service.** It does not move money and cannot make payments.

## Languages, currencies and markets

These are three independent settings:

- **Language:** English, Czech, German, French, Slovak, Polish. The interface, emails and AI answers follow the profile language.
- **Display currency:** every aggregate (net worth, portfolio value, analytics) is converted into the currency chosen in Settings, using European Central Bank rates. Individual records keep their own currency — a EUR account stays in EUR, a USD stock stays in USD.
- **Market:** country-specific rules (investment holding-period tests, property tax rules, energy price lists) depend on the market, and the market is a parameter of the operation: a property follows the country of its address, the investment tax view follows your tax residence, statement import follows the bank. ## Detailed feature list

### Bank accounts and transactions (`/features/bank-accounts`)

Accounts in their own currency (checking, savings, credit cards, cash) with balances,
categories, rules and transfers. Data arrives by:

- **Statement import.** The format is decided by the file content, not the extension:
  international standards (SEPA XML camt.053, MT940, OFX/QFX/QBO, QIF), national formats
  (GPC/ABO, Norma 43, CFONB 120, CBI, CODA, Elixir), Excel (XLSX, XLS), PDF downloaded from
  online banking, and CSV from any bank with smart column detection. Dedicated parsers exist
  for Air Bank, Raiffeisenbank, UniCredit Bank and Wise. An automated coverage test verifies
  203 bank export formats from 31 countries plus
  28 PDF statement layouts (as of 2026-10-01). If detection is unsure, the
  user maps columns by hand or lets the AI propose a mapping (the AI sees only the header and a
  few rows). A scanned statement can be transcribed by AI only after explicit confirmation.

- **Email import (Premium, Max).** Send a statement to your own secret address; by default the

- **Wallet by BudgetBakers sync (Premium, Max).** Optional; requires your own Wallet account.
- **Manual entry**, and writes through the AI assistant or MCP.

Categorization: rules run first and are free; AI categorization of what remains is optional.

### Investments (`/features/stocks-etf`, `/features/crypto`)

Broker accounts with stocks and ETFs, live prices and dividends; crypto with FIFO/LIFO/HIFO
methods and live prices; other investments. The holding-period tax view follows the rule of
your market and is shown with its source and verification date.

### Real estate (`/features/real-estate`)

Property value, ownership share, mortgages, rental cash flow, utility readings and prices,
appliances, energy price watch.

### Property check (`/property-check`)

A due-diligence protocol for a property listing. The user pastes the listing text, or the
Chrome extension reads the page open in the user's own browser (the server never fetches
listing portals). Checks run across the listing, public registers, map layers and the user's
own budget. Facts and the AI's assessment are kept as separate layers, and every gap says why
it is a gap. Available sources depend on the country of the listing.

### Vehicles (`/features/vehicles`)

Ownership versus leasing, mileage, running costs by category, total cost of ownership.

### Valuables (`/features/valuables`)

Electronics, jewellery, art, furniture and other items with purchase price, depreciation and
current value.

### Loans and mortgages (`/features/loans-mortgages`)

Loans and mortgages linked to properties; a debt payoff calculator (snowball vs. avalanche).

### Budgets, goals and subscriptions (`/features/budgets`, `/features/subscriptions`)

Budget templates (50/30/20, envelope method) and custom budgets, savings goals and envelopes,
recurring payments with renewal reminders.

### Shared expenses (`/features/bill-splitting`)

Groups for trips, households and events, several ways to split, multiple currencies, suggested
settlements, a share link for people without an account.

### Net worth and analytics (`/features/net-worth`, `/features/analytics`)

Net worth across all asset classes in the display currency, with history. Analytics tabs:
Overview, Cash flow, Categories, Savings & Investments, Forecast, Patterns, Score, AI review.
The financial health score runs from 0 to 850 and has 7 components.

### AI review

A weekly AI review of your finances, shown on the dashboard and in Analytics. The headline
figures are computed by the server, not by the model.

### Vacation planner (`/features/vacation-planner`)

Trip budget in any currencies, the plan compared with what your account actually shows
afterwards, AI suggestions and an assessment.

### Energy savings (`/features/energy-savings`)

Compares your electricity and gas contract with official price lists in markets where the
comparison is live; indicative, no brokerage, no commissions.

### Family Legacy (`/features/family-legacy`, Premium and Max)

Secured emergency access to your financial overview for trusted contacts (family, lawyer,
accountant), with notes for heirs encrypted with AES-256-GCM.

### Files (`/features/files`, Premium and Max)

Storage for contracts and financial documents; the size limit depends on the plan.

### Multi-profile

One login can hold several independent financial profiles (e.g. "My finances", "Partner",
"Kids"). Every record belongs to exactly one profile. Free 1, Premium
5, Max 15 profiles.

## AI

### AI assistant (`/features/ai-assistant`)

A chat on every dashboard page. It receives your message, the conversation and a financial
snapshot of the active profile, and can call any of the 47 tools — the same tool
registry as the MCP server. Write tools always have a preview counterpart; the server refuses a
write that does not carry the preview's token for the same values. Sniper mode explains any
chart or number you click. Conversations are saved to your profile and can be deleted.

### AI budget — money, not operations

Every AI feature is paid from one monthly money budget included in the plan:

- Free: $0.40 · £0.35 · €0.40 · 10 CZK · 1.70 PLN
- Premium: $3 · £2.60 · €3 · 75 CZK · 12.90 PLN
- Max: $8 · £6.90 · €8 · 200 CZK · 34.50 PLN

The model's actual token usage is charged; there is no message or operation counter. The budget
renews one month after registration (after a payment or an upgrade, one month from that date)
and drops to the new allowance right away when the plan goes down. One-time top-ups:
$5–$50 · £4–£40 · €5–€50 · 100–1,000 CZK · 15–150 PLN. On Premium and Max you can enter your own API key for Anthropic, OpenAI or
Google Gemini; calls on your key are not charged by Assetli. Repeated merchants in
categorization are cached and not charged again.

compared with paying monthly. Payments go through Stripe; Assetli does not see or store card
numbers. Cancelling keeps the paid features until the end of the paid period.

## AI agent integration

### Model Context Protocol (MCP)

Remote MCP server (JSON-RPC over Streamable HTTP) at `https://assetli.app/api/mcp`.

**Authentication:** OAuth 2.1 with PKCE and Dynamic Client Registration (RFC 7591). The AI
client registers itself, the user signs in to Assetli and on the consent screen picks **one
profile** and grants `read` or `read`+`write`. Access tokens are valid for 1 hour, refresh
tokens for 60 days and are rotated on every use. Tokens are stored only as hashes. No API key
or password is shared with the AI client.

**Plans:** reading is available on every plan. Writing and importing require the `write` scope
and a Premium or Max plan; on Free the write tools are not listed to the client.

**Tools (47 total):** read tools cover accounts, transactions, spending summary,
budgets, subscriptions, investments, other investments, properties and their cash flow,
vehicles and their costs, mortgages, valuables, net worth, financial score, tax view, FIRE
progress, goals, savings envelopes, saved calculator plans, debt overview, household energy,
spending patterns, cash flow prediction and glossary terms (`explain_term`). Writes use a
two-step preview → confirm pattern: `prepare_transaction` → `add_transaction`,
`prepare_stock_trade` → `add_stock_trade`, `prepare_crypto_trade` → `add_crypto_trade`,
`prepare_utility_reading` → `add_utility_reading`, `prepare_valuable_add` → `add_valuable`,
`prepare_valuable_update` → `update_valuable`, `prepare_budget_update` → `update_budget`,
`prepare_bank_import` → `import_bank_transactions` (bank CSV through the same parser and

**What Assetli sees:** the conversation stays in the AI client; Assetli receives only tool calls
(tool name and arguments). Reads are not logged. Writes are recorded in an audit log for 12
months, without free text. Tools never return account numbers, IBANs, passwords or tokens.

**Setup:**
1. In your AI client, add a custom connector / remote MCP server with URL `https://assetli.app/api/mcp`
2. Sign in with your Assetli account when the OAuth window opens
3. Pick the profile and the access level on the consent screen

### REST API

`GET /api/ai?section=<section>` returns financial data for the authenticated user (read-only).

**Authentication:** `Authorization: Bearer ask_<your_api_key>` (or `Authorization: ask_<your_api_key>`).
API keys are stored as SHA-256 hashes.

**Sections** (optional; without `section` all are returned): `subscriptions`, `accounts`,
`stocks`, `crypto`, `properties`, `budgets`, `transactions`, `summary`.

## Security and privacy

- All traffic over HTTPS. Application on Vercel and database on MongoDB Atlas, both in Frankfurt (EU).
- Field-level AES-256-GCM encryption for account numbers, IBANs and notes of bank accounts, the Wallet by BudgetBakers token, two-factor secrets, your own AI provider API keys and Family Legacy notes.
- OAuth access and refresh tokens, authorization codes and API keys are stored as SHA-256 hashes.
- Sign-in with email and password (bcrypt), Google or Facebook; optional TOTP two-factor authentication; lockout after repeated failed attempts.
- Payments through Stripe; card data never touches Assetli.
- Export of all your data in JSON on every plan (GDPR Article 20, `GET /api/user/export-data`); deleting the account removes all data.

**Q: What is Assetli?**

**Q: Which banks are supported?**
A: Practically any bank whose statement you can download. An automated test verifies
203 bank export formats from 31 countries, and standard formats
such as camt.053, MT940 and OFX are read regardless of the bank. Any other CSV can be mapped by
hand or with AI. Assetli does not connect to banks directly.

**Q: How much does AI cost?**

**Q: Can I connect Assetli to Claude or ChatGPT?**
A: Yes. Add `https://assetli.app/api/mcp` as a custom connector, sign in, pick a profile and grant
read-only or read+write access. Reading works on every plan; writing requires Premium or Max.

**Q: Is my data safe?**
A: Data is hosted in the EU (Frankfurt), traffic is encrypted, sensitive fields are encrypted
with AES-256-GCM, and tokens and API keys are stored as hashes. Assetli never holds bank
credentials and cannot make payments.
