Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between margin and markup?
Margin is profit divided by the selling price; markup is profit divided by the cost price. For the same product the markup percentage is always higher than the margin.
How do I calculate selling price from margin?
Selling price = cost / (1 − margin/100). For a 40% margin on a 600 cost, the price is 600 / 0.6 = 1000.
Does the calculator include VAT?
Yes. Margin and markup are computed from net prices, and the tool also shows the selling price including 21% or 12% VAT.
