IBAN

International Bank Account Number, a standardized format for identifying bank accounts across borders.

The IBAN is an internationally agreed system for uniquely identifying a bank account, used primarily for cross-border and European payments. It encodes the country, bank, and account number in a single string of up to 34 characters, with a built-in checksum that catches typos before a transfer is sent. Using the correct IBAN ensures money reaches the right account quickly and avoids costly failed transfers. It does not replace your account number domestically but standardizes it for international use. Assetli reads your IBAN-based statements when you import or sync transactions.

Example

A Czech IBAN looks like CZ65 0800 0000 1920 0014 5399; the first two letters are the country code and the next two are check digits.
