Connect ChatGPT

Step by step: add Assetli as a custom connector in ChatGPT's Developer mode, and what OpenAI allows on each ChatGPT plan.

Steps

  1. Enable Developer mode: Settings → Apps & Connectors → Advanced → Developer mode.
  2. Go to Settings → Connectors → Create.
  3. Enter a name (for example “Assetli”), a short description, and paste the connector URL.
  4. Choose OAuth as the authentication method and connect.
  5. Approve on the Assetli consent screen: pick the profile and grant Read or Read and write.
  6. In a new chat, enable the Assetli connector from the tools menu and ask your question.

ChatGPT plan restrictions

At the time of writing OpenAI allows write-capable custom connectors only on Business, Enterprise and Edu workspaces. On Plus and Pro the connector can read your data but tool calls that write are blocked by ChatGPT, regardless of the scope you granted in Assetli. This is OpenAI’s policy and can change; check OpenAI’s documentation for the current state.

Disconnecting

Delete the connector in ChatGPT and remove it in Assetli under the account menu (top right) → AI Connection (MCP), which revokes the tokens immediately.
