Connect ChatGPT

Step by step: add Assetli as an app in ChatGPT's Developer mode, and what OpenAI allows on each ChatGPT plan.

Steps

  1. Enable Developer mode: Settings → Apps → Advanced settings → Developer mode (ChatGPT on the web).
  2. In Settings → Apps click Create app. The button appears only in Developer mode.
  3. Enter a name (for example “Assetli”), a short description, and paste the connector URL.
  4. Choose OAuth as the authentication method and connect.
  5. Approve on the Assetli consent screen: pick the profile and grant Read or Read and write.
  6. In a new chat, turn the Assetli app on from the tools menu and ask your question.

OpenAI used to call these “connectors” and keep them under Settings → Connectors; if your ChatGPT still shows the older menu, the steps are the same there.

ChatGPT plan restrictions

OpenAI offers Developer mode on Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu accounts on the web, but full MCP support including write actions only on Business, Enterprise and Edu workspaces. On Plus and Pro the app can read your data, while tool calls that write are blocked by ChatGPT, regardless of the scope you granted in Assetli. Checked on 30 October 2026 against OpenAI’s help article on Developer mode; OpenAI’s own pages are not fully consistent on this point and the feature is in beta, so check there for the current state.

Writing also needs a Premium or Max plan in Assetli; on Free the write tools are listed but the server refuses them, whatever ChatGPT allows.

After a plan change

Which tools ChatGPT gets depends on the scope, not on your plan, so after a plan change in Assetli there is nothing to refresh: after an upgrade to Premium or Max writing works right away (as far as OpenAI allows), after a downgrade the server refuses it. Exception: ChatGPT keeps the tool list it loaded when you created the app, so an app created on Free before 30 October 2026 has no write tools; after an upgrade open its details in Settings → Apps and refresh it, or delete it and create it again.

Disconnecting

Delete the connector in ChatGPT and remove it in Assetli under the account menu (top right) → AI Connection (MCP), which revokes the tokens immediately.
